Renewable energy in your hands.
Energy Democracy is here to provide you with the easiest, cheapest way to reduce your carbon emissions from electricity.
We build, operate and maintain solar farms for communities, and establish renewable energy co-operatives where members own part of the farm and profit from the renewable energy that is generated by it.
Why join a renewable energy co-operative?
As the movement toward cleaner energy gains momentum, a growing number of community-scale renewable energy facilities are being constructed across Australia.
Not only do community-scale solar parks capture the economies of scale of larger solar farms, but these renewable energy facilities have advantages over large-scale centralised projects that result in inefficiencies in transmission. On the other hand, individual distributed generation, such as solar infrastructure on the roofs of homes, involves high transaction costs and creates relatively small impacts.
Community-owned solar benefits
Ethical Investment
An opportunity to benefit from solar PV over the lifetime of the park (20+ years)
Climate Action
Involvement in positive climate action which lowers your carbon footprint
Community Support
Enabling members to understand how sustainable energy and energy efficiency can lower costs
Zero Maintenance
Remove the maintenance requirements and cost of owning rooftop solar PV

Anyone can become a member of an Energy Democracy Co-operative, creating an opportunity for you to invest in solar and batteries and benefit from the financial returns.
Owning shares in our co-ops provides investors with the competitive financial and environmental benefits of renewable energy. The parks include battery storage, which we use to generate extra income for the co-operative that can be distributed to the members.
How does it work?
1
We establish a renewable energy co-operative for members to invest in a new renewable energy park
2
We manage the construction, grid connection, and finance for the park
3
As renewable electricity from the park is fed into the national grid, the profits from this are distributed to members via dividends
4
Energy Democracy continues to operate and maintain the renewable energy park for the co-op for the life of the park
